11 Swimmers Selected to NEISDA All-Academic Team

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University placed 11 athletes on the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association's 2019 Spring All-Academic Team.

Student-athletes must earn a 3.50 or higher grade point average in the spring semester to qualify.

Westfield State had the second-most female athletes on the All-Academic roster of any school in the 22-team organization.

The Owls recognized were;  Siobhan Carey (Acton-Boxborough/Acton, Mass.), Kaylin Carpenter (Tyngsboro, Mass.), Heidi Demers (Sanford/Springvale, Maine), Shannon Fitzsimmons (Andover, Mass.), Monique Groux (Agawam, Mass.), Kelsey Johnstone (Westfield HS/Southwick, Mass.), Lyric Lamagdelaine (Minnechaug/Springfield, Mass.), Hannah McKenna (Methuen, Mass.) Nicole Pechulis (Longmeadow, Mass.)., Amber Stearns (Milford, Mass.) and Carly Thibodeau (Nipmuc/Mendon, Mass.)

Westfield State finished the 2018-19 season with a record of 7-2 in dual meets.  The Owls placed third at the Little East Conference championship meet and seventh at the NEISDA Championship meet under 37th year head coach Dave Laing.
