Seven Owls Named to LEC All-Academic Team
WESTFIELD, Mass. - Westfield State University had seven athletes from the women's swimming and diving team named to the 2017-18 Little East Conference (LEC) Winter All-Academic team during the semester break.

The Little East Conference announced a total of 139 student-athletes competing in the LEC's five winter championship sports - men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field, women's swimming & diving - have been named to the 2017-18 LEC Winter All-Academic Team.

To be named the LEC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be at least in sophomore standing both academically and athletically, have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the previous semester, and have been at their current institution for at least one full academic year.

Westfield State finished the season with a record of 8-1 and placed second in the Little East Conference Championships. The Owls enjoyed unprecedented success at the 2018 NEISDA Championship meet, headlined by two New England titles from sophomore Kelsey Johnstone (Southwick, Mass. / Westfield), and the Owls set a baker's dozen school records en route to a team fourth-place finish at the 20-team meet.
