Owls Sweep MASCAC Player Awards, Place Six on All-Conference Teams

Westfield, Mass. — The Westfield State duo of Delaney Parker and Jaida Cochran have earned the 2023 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors and headline the 2023 MASCAC First Team All-Conference squad which is voted on by the coaches from around the conference.


Parker, a junior from Orange, Mass., returns to her award winning ways after being named the MASCAC Player and Rookie of the Year in 2021. This is her third straight All-Conference accolade after registering a league-leading 18 goals, 10 assists and 46 points. Seven times during the 2023 season, Parker netted more than one goal, including a hat- trick in their draw with UMass Boston where she became the Owls career points leader with currently 158 in only three seasons of competition. She also is the school's career goal scorer with 65 following the end of last week's tournament.


For the second straight year, Jaida Cochran of Westfield State is the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year. The junior from Middleboro, Mass. helped the Owls hold their opponents to only 31 goals and a 1.55 goals against this season while collecting seven shutouts on the season. This is Cochran's third straight First Team All-Conference accolade after the Owls were the second seed in the tournament and claimed the tournament title on Sunday.


Joining Parker and Cochran as a major award winner is Tia Tollis of Westfield State. The freshman from midfielder from Longmeadow, Mass., had a solid first season with the Owls, scoring eight goals and tallying six assists for 22 points. Her goals and assists were both the fourth highest in the conference. Three times this season, she found the back of the net twice, including wins over MCLA and Salem State.


After guiding Bridgewater State to a perfect 7-0 record and the top seed in the MASCAC Tournament, Yasmina Carvalho was voted the 2023 BSN Sports Coach of the Year.
Sitting on the MASCAC First Team with Parker, Cochran and Tollis are Sydney Dewhurst of Bridgewater State, Ashley Porter of Fitchburg State, Victoria Potter of Framingham State, Brenna Paquette and Lily Pfefferle of Salem State, Jenna Hurlburt and Kiana Muratsuka of Westfield State and Erin Condon of Worcester State.


Earning a spot on the 2023 MASCAC Second Team are Logan Levesque, Olivia Robarge and Abigail Shea of Bridgewater State, Taylor Senecal and Adrianna Westcott of Fitchburg State, Jetta Oskirko of Framingham State, Gwendolyn Duggan and Alyssa Porter of MCLA, Taylor Blanton of Mass. Maritime, Sydney Durkin of Salem State, Morgan Berthiaume of Westfield State.
