Parker Nets Hat Trick, Game-Winner in 4-3 Win Over Warriors

Westfield State first-year Delaney Parker netted her third hat trick of the season, booting Westfield past Eastern Connecticut, 4-3 in a non-conference game in Mansfield, Conn. on Wednesday evening.

Parker netted the game winner in the 87th minute to snap a 3-3 deadlock, scoring on a left-side breakaway from a tough angle.

Westfield State improves to 4-3-1 on the season, while Eastern in now 3-3.

The game was a back and forth affair throughout.  After the Warriors grabbed a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the game, Parker netted back to back goals to give the Owls a 2-1 lead in the 17th minute.

Ashlyn Rogers tied the game for Eastern in the 55th minute, only to see Westfield State's Jenn Rennich respond with an goal less than two minutes later to stake the Owls to a 3-2 lead.

Eastern wasn't done, as Carlie Dreyfus found the back of the net in the 68th minute, to tie the match at 3-3 and set the stage for Parker's game-winner.

Parker has started her collegiate career with an incredible scoring spree, netting 11 goals through the Owls first seven games. She has 11 goals and 3 assists for 25 points to lead the Owls

Westfield held an 18-10 advantage in shots and an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.

The Owls will be back in action on Saturday, hosting MCLA in a MASCAC game at Alumni Field. That game will be the 500th career collegiate coaching game for Owls' head coach Todd Ditmar.
