SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Westfield State women's soccer team fell to Union College, 3-2, in non-conference action on Wednesday night.

The Dutchwomen opened up scoring in the first half with a goal from Emma Schleimer. Schleimer dribbled the ball in a scored in the lower right of the goal to make it 1-0 in the 16th minute.

Westfield State closed out the first half with a goal from Jana Paecht (Holliston, Mass.) to even the score at 1-1 before halftime. Paecht received a pass from Hallee Tripp (Swansea, Mass.) and buried it from 15 yards out.

In the second half, it was the Owls who opened up scoring with a goal from junior midfielder Lydia Kinsman (Granville, Mass.) in the 55th minute to give Westfield the 2-1.

But it would not be for long, as only 37 seconds later Bella Dworkin would even the game at two. Dworkin eventually scored the game-winning goal in the 68th minute to secure the win for the Dutchwomen.

Union outshot Westfield 18-9 on the day. Union goalkeeper Alison Sorkenn recorded two saves for her fourth win on the season.

With the loss, Westfield drops to 2-4-1 on the year and moves on to host Bridgewater State in a big MASCAC matchup on Saturday afternoon. Come and support the Owls as a part of homecoming weekend this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!
