Levya Leads Owls Past Framingham, 2-0

Framingham, Mass. – Ashley Levya (Walpole, Mass.) scored a goal and added an assist as the Westfield State Owls women's soccer team defeated Framingham State by a score of 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Maple Street Field in the conference opener for both squads.

Westfield State improves to 2-2-1 overall and  1-0 MASCAC, while  Framingham State drops to 0-4, 0-1 MASCAC.

The Owls scored the lone goal of the first half when Jenn Rennich (Bedford, Mass.) scored off a pass from Ashley Levya (Walpole, Mass.).

Westfield added to their lead in the 71st minute when Levya beat Rams keeper Jennifer Stevens (Hopkinton, Mass.) with an assist from Bella Eduardo (Springfield, Mass.).

The Rams best chance in the closing minutes when Olivia Mihalek's (Northborough, Mass.) shot hit the cross bar.

Senior goalkeeper Natalia Falcone (Sutton, Mass.) made three stops in the shutout for the Owls.

Stevens made seven saves in net for the Rams.

The Owls outshot the Rams 15-to-8 in the contest, and held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.

In an odd occurrence, both teams will face Keene State in their next game.  The Rams host Keene State Monday at 7:30 pm in a makeup game from Sept. 12, while the Owls travel to Keene on Wednesday for a 6:30 pm kickoff.
