The Owls celebrate a goal against Hartwick during their fall 2023 play day.

A winter update from coach Pechulis  . . .

It's been a busy fall for the Westfield State Owls Women's Lacrosse team!

The Owls team kicked off the 2023 fall practice season in September to begin their fifth season as defending Conference Champions in the past six years. With a combination of strong returning players and a plethora of very talented first-year teammates, the Owls are poised to make another run at the NCAA national tournament in May. The new Owls joining the blue and white include players from MA, NH, CT, VT, ME and NY!

The Owls' annual Goalie Clinic was a great success, attracting goalies from throughout New England and New York. Considered by many as a top "Goalie Experience" for attendees, the WSU Goalie clinic focuses on "what goalies need to know and need to practice". The 1-on-1 station setting of the clinic provided the guests with personal and targeted technique instruction. This approach has proven to provide results for all the happy campers in attendance.

The following weekend, the Owls rallied and hosted their annual Fall Prospect Day.  The event was a full day of competitive lacrosse, campus tours and of course, lunch! The Owl Teammates were handed the reigns and took full advantage by preparing for a day of their favorite competitive drills and scrimmage sets. The day included of lots of shots, saves, goals and laughs, and was a huge success for our guests and hopefully, future teammates!

The grand finale of the Owls fall season was the WSU Invitational Play Day. This year the field expanded to eight teams from throughout the northeast and beyond including: Plymouth State, Hartwick College, Fitchburg State, Keene State, Smith College, Eastern Connecticut State, Framingham State and YOUR Westfield State Owls! The weather was perfect and play was strong and fast. All teams got a great first exposure to the new NCAA Women's Lacrosse rules and most teams finished the day with family tailgates well into the evening. Truly a great day had by all.

The team and coaches are finishing up the fall season by acing final exams, hitting the weight room, running youth and high school clinics, and hosting weekly campus tours for Prospective Owls. All interested prospects are encouraged to give us a call! Hope to see you on campus soon!

Go Owls!
