FITCHBURG, Mass. -- The Westfield State women's lacrosse team solidified the number three seed in the MASCAC tournament with a 16-2 win over Fitchburg State University Saturday night.

The Owls will now officially host the sixth-seeded Salem State Vikings in a MASCAC quarterfinal matchup Tuesday night at Alumni Field.

Westfield State grabbed a 9-0 margin to open the contest as senior Elizabeth Navoni (Mansfield, Mass.) collected two scores, while junior Maddie Bartkus (Marshfield, Mass.) capped the scoring run for the Owls.

Fitchburg State cut into the deficit as freshman Julia Miele (South Hadley, Mass.) connected on her 20th marker on the season, but the Owls upped its margin to 12-1 going into the break on a score from senior Sydney Lambert (Hanover, Mass.).

Following the intermission, Westfield State extended its margin (16-1) on two tallies from senior Allie Fedak (Wilbraham, Mass.). The Green and Gold responded as Miele netted her second goal of the contest, resulting in 16-2 final.
