Westfield, Mass. - Sophomore Claire Dunbar (Lutherville, Md) netted five goals and an assist to lead 13th-ranked Amherst College to a 17-3 win over Westfield State on Wednesday night.

Westfield State junior Sam Donohoe (Pepperell, Mass.) got things going early for the Owls, scoring just 23 seconds into the game off of a nice feed from senior Sydney Lambert (Hanover, Mass.)

Amherst junior Hannah Fox (Plymouth Meeting, Pa) and Westfield senior Alexa Tonelli (Shrewsbury, Mass.) would go on to exchange goals early in the first half, giving the Owls a 2-1 lead with 27:16 remaining.

Amherst College did not look back after that, scoring the next nine goals in the first half to head into the break with a 10-2 lead.

They would go on to outscore Westfield 7-1 in the second half, en route to a 17-3 win.

Donohue, Tonelli, and senior Marissa Nimeskern (Hanover, Mass.) each finished with a goal in the loss for the Owls.

Along with Dunbar, the Mammoths were led by junior Hannah Fox (Plymouth Meeting, Pa), who netted three goals to go along with an assist.

Amherst College spread the wealth, with eight players scoring a goal in the game.

The Mammoths move to 6-1 overall on the season, while Westfield State dropped their fifth straight and move to 2-5.

The Owls are back at home on Saturday, April 6th, when they will take on Salem State in a conference matchup.
