Women's Lax Falls To Skidmore in Florida, 17-10

CLERMONT, Fla. - Skdmore College's Cas Szwajowski scored five of her six goals in the decisive second half, as the Thoroughbreds pulled away from Westfield State for a 17-10 women's lacrosse win in Engelwood, Fla. on Monday afternoon.

Westfield trailed 8-5 at the half, but the Owls netted the first two goals of the second half to trim the lead to just one, 8-7, after Sam Donohoe scored the first goal of the period and added an assist on Sydney Lambert's goal.

From there, the T-breds scored six of the next seven goals in the match, including three by Szwajowski, the last with 9;01 to play that left Skidmore with a 14-8 lead.

Lambert finished with four goals to lead Westfield, with Liz Navoni adding two tallies.

Westfield got 14 saves from Maria Woodall, while Caroline Kenlon stopped 13 for Skidmore.

Both teams now have 2-1 records on the season.  The Owls will be back in action tomorrow with a game against Vassar at 7:30 p.m.
