Westfield State has selected Jeff Gelinas as its new women’s golf coach for the fall of 2021.

Gelinas begins duties immediately for the Owls’ program, which competes in NCAA Division 3 and the Northeast Women’s Golf Conference.

“We are pleased to add Jeff to our coaching staff,” said Westfield State athletic director Dick Lenfest. “He comes to us highly recommended and we look forward to him continuing to build our program.”

Gelinas comes to the Owls after a stint as golf coach at Westfield High School, where he served as the varsity coach in 2020-21 after seven years as the coach of the junior varsity program.

He brings a diverse coaching background, having also worked with the Bombers boys and girls basketball teams, the boys volleyball team and the boys and girls track and field team at various points in his career.

A science teacher in the Westfield schools, Gelinas also spent time in the golf world as a sales representative for Spaulding, Taylor Made-Addidas Golf, and Tommy Hifliger Golf earlier in his professional career.

He holds a Master’s of Education degree from UMass Amherst, and is a 1992 graduate of Westfield State University with a bachelor’s degree in business.
