Owls Place Second At Nichols Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass.  –  Westfield State University's Kerry Greenough (Charlton, Mass./Shepherd Hill) placed third individually to help lead the Owls to a second place finish at the Nichols College Invitational at Dudley Hill Golf Course in Dudley, Mass. on Tuesday afternoon.

In the first competitive outing of the spring for the Owls, Greenough shot 105 to finish in a tie for third, 15 shots back of medalist Maya Orbeggozo of Nichols and five strokes back of Katlin Baca in second on the par-72 track.

Dorothy Duval (Williamsburg, Mass./Hampshire) finished three strokes back of Greenough to finish in a tie for sixth in the 14-player field.

Nichols College won the meet with a team total of 404, Westfield was second at 471, and Gordon third at 510.

Westfield will next play a dual match vs Gordon at Wenham Country Club on Saturday, April 20, to tune up for the Northeast Women's Golf Conference championships, which are scheduled for April 27 and 28 at the Edison Club in Rexford, N.Y.
