Women's Golf Places Seventh at Conference Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass.  –  Westfield State women's golf finished seventh at the 2022 Northeast Women's Golf Conference Championships, a 2-day, 36-hole event at the Edison Club in Rexford, N.Y.
 
Jordan Eddy led the Owls with a t-25 finish, shooting 107-104-211.  Westfield's Kerry Greenough was 30th with 125-126-251.  Julia Elbe and Andraya Scibilio rounded out the Owls scoring foursome at the tournament.
 
Cortland State (NY) shaved eight strokes off of its Day 1 total to win the conference title with a team score of 648 (328-320), beating runner-up Suffolk by 103 strokes. The Rams finished second with a 751 (365-386), while Nazareth was third with a 754 (376-378). Westfield finished with a two-day total of 1141.
 
Cortland freshman Paige Cerminaro captured the conference individual championship by firing a 13-over-par, two-day score of 157 (79-78). She was both the NWGC Player and Rookie of the Year for recording the lowest two rounds among all players as well as among all first-year competitors.
 
Cerminaro and the Red Dragons swept the All-NWGC First Team with all five players finishing in the Top of 5 in the tournament.
 
The tournament was played at the Edison Club for the first time.   The golf course was laid out in 1926 by the legendary Devereux Emmet, whose other creations include Congressional Country Club, Nestled on the rolling hills above the bluffs of the Mohawk River, the 27-hole facility offers a pretty park-like setting, with many of the holes lined by mature trees.  The tournament was played on holes 1-18 both days.
