Holly Snyder and Morgan Muhlbauer provided a 1-2 punch for  Buena Vista University, as the Beavers outlasted Westfield State, 82–76, on the second day of the D3hoops.com Tournament at the South Point hotel and arena in Las Vegas.

Schneider finished with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Muhlbauer added 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The game was close and hard-fought through out.

Westfield State pulled within three, 76-73, on a Melissa Gray three-pointer with 2:11 to play.

With Buena Vista leading 79-75 and less than 30 seconds to play, the Owls tied up the ball, and Beavers head coach Dana Christen was whistled for a technical foul while arguing the call, leaving the door open for Westfield State.

Lucy Barrett went to the line for Westfield, and made one of two shots to trim the lead back to three, 79-76.

With the ball returned to the Beavers as play returned to the point of interruption,  Muhlbauer was fouled on the possession and made one of two shots.  Barrett rebounded the second shot with 25.6 seconds left and the Owls trailing 80-76.

Westfield got a driving chance from Chelsea Moussette, and Kierra McCarthy's follow up attempt would not go down with six seconds left to effectively end the Owls' chances.

Barrett finished with 12 points and a career best 12 rebounds for the Owls.   Barrett was named to the all-tournament team.

Melissa Gray shared the Owls scoring lead with 12 points, while Cayla Durkee added 11 and Alyssa Lane tallied 9.  Moussette finished with nine points and five assists.

Westfield is now 4-7 on the season, and has dropped five straight while facing a rugged non-conference slate including the cross-country trip.

Buena Vista (5-6) shot 57 percent from the floor for the game, while the Owls connected on just 29.9 percent of their shots.   Westfield was solid from behind the arc, connecting on 16 of 45 treys (35.6 percent).

The Owls will return to the northeast to face Plymouth State in Plymouth, N.H., on January 3.
