Moriarty Picks Up Second Rookie of the Week Award

WESTFIELD, Mass.  –  Westfield State freshman guard Siobhan Moriarty (Danvers, Mass.) picked the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference rookie of the week award for the second time this season for her play last week.

Moriarty averaged 5.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, two assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks in two games for the Owls. She finished with four points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 108-100 overtime setback to Smith College and had seven points, four rebounds, two blocks and an assist against Springfield College.

For the season Moriarty has started all nine games and is averaging 6.1 points and 4.0 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game.

Westfield goes to the holiday break with a 4-5 overall record.  The Owls are the highest scoring team in the nation at 92.9 points per game, and will next play in the D3Hoops.com Las Vegas Invitational Tournament on Dec. 28 and 29, where they will face national #7 Amherst College and Buena Vista (IA).
