WESTFIELD, Mass.  – The nation's highest scoring women's basketball team meets the nation's top rebounder when Westfield State hosts its 2018 home opener against Albertus Magnus (Conn.) College on Thursday night.

Westfield has picked up where they left off last season, and leads the nation at 92.4 points per game.

Albertus Magnus rolls into town on the shoulders of 6-foot junior center Rah Rah Thompson, who leads the country with 17.2 rebounds per game.  The Falcons are 7-0 so far this season

Westfield State is 3-2 on the season.  The Owls fell 79-74 to NYU in Manhattan on Saturday, capping a five game road trip to start the year.

The two teams were scheduled to play last season, but the game was wiped out by a snowstorm.

Westfield is led by sophomore forward Melissa Gray, who is averaging 19.6 points per game and ranks 10th in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage, connecting on better than 51 percent of her shots from downtown.

Junior guard Chelsea Moussette is currently second in the nation in assist to turnover ratio and ranks fourth in the country by dishing out 7.2 assists per game.

Owls Seniors Lucy Barrett (15.4 ppg) and Kierra McCarthy (10.0) are both closing in on the 1,000 point mark for their careers and give the Owls a balanced attack.

Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Woodward Center.
