WESTFIELD, Mass. - Westfield State University's freshman forward Melissa Gray (Peabody, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball player of the week on Monday.
Gray averaged 8.7 points, four rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.7 assists in a 3-0 week for the Owls. Gray scored 17 points with five rebounds and three steals in the win over Fitchburg State and had seven points plus five rebounds and two assists in the 78-57 win over MCLA.
Gray is currently the third leading scorer for the Owls, averaging 8.7 points a game.
Westfield State stays unbeaten in the MASCAC at 7-0 and are 13-6 overall.
The Owls will return to game action Saturday, February 3rd with a 1:00 p.m. conference game at Bridgewater State.
