WESTFIELD, Mass.  –   Westfield State sophomore 3B Hannah Wodecki (Southampton, Mass./Hampshire Reg.) drove in four runs across two games, as the Owls topped Lesley University, 10-2, and Alfred (NY) State 4-1 in a split doubleheader in Naples, Fla. on Thursday.

Wodecki, a transfer from Division II Franklin Pierce, drove in three runs in the opener against Lesley, two on a first inning triple as the Owls jumped out to a 4-1 lead after one inning.   Victoria Quill (Raynham, Mass./B-R) rapped out a pair of hits for the Owls, and Wodecki, Christina Ciampa (Rockville, Conn./Vernon-Rockville), and Jordyn Lummus (Pittsfield, Mass.) each scored twice as the Owls ended the game in the fifth inning via the eight-run rule.

Starter Gianna Conte (Greenfield, Mass.) earned the win for the Owls to improve to 2-1.

In the second game of the day, Owls pitchers limited the pioneers to just three hits on the day.  Conte (W, 3-1) picked up the win in relief of Arielle Ostman (Woodbury, Minn.), with Stephanie Scoville (Northfield, Mass./Pioneer Valley) working a scoreless seventh to earn her second save of the season.

Westfield again got off to a fast start, getting back to back RBI doubles from Sarah Hough (Southwick, Mass.) and Wodecki in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.   Lummus added 2-run triple in the sixth inning to give the Owls a 4-1 lead.

The Owls improve to 6-2 on the season with the two wins.

Hough and Megan Metzger each had a pair of hits.   Wodecki (.458) and Lummus (.417) have started the season hot at the plate and lead the team in batting.

Westfield will wrap up the 10-game Florida swing on Friday with a pair of games against Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology and Coe (IA).   Coe entered the week ranked #18 in the nation and advanced to the College World Series last season.   Both games will be at North Collier Park in Naples, Fla, with the action commencing at 9:00 a.m.
