WESTFIELD Mass- Westfield State first year Nathan Sylven (Wrentham, MA) was named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference rookie runner of the week for the fith time this season. 

In this past weekend's race, The Conn. College Invitational, he was the first runner across for Westfield State as he finished 96th overall with a time of 26:11 on the 8,000 meter course. Sylven was 96th out of 209 participants. Out of the 34 teams, Westfield State finished 24th overall. 

Sylven has racked up three MASCAC Rookie of the Week awards, as well as finishing first in the individual meet at the season opening Keene Alumni Invitational

The next meet for the Owls is the MASCAC Championship which takes place on October 27th.
