WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State men's cross country first-year runner Nathan Sylven (Wrentham, Mass.) secured both weekly honors this past week, earning the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie and Runner of the Week after a successful beginning to his collegiate career at the Keene State Invitational.
Sylven was the individual winner as the Owls ran to a third-place team finish at the season-opening meet in Keene, N.H. on Saturday. He traversed the 5k course in 16:07, which was 11 seconds ahead of his closest competition.
The Westfield State men's cross country team will look to build off a strong opening week as the Owls will participate in the Trinity College Invitational from Hartford, Conn. on Saturday, September 9 at 10:30 A.M.
