Owls Place Fifth at Saratoga Springs Invitational

Westfield, Mass. – The Westfield State men's cross country team finished fifth out of eight teams in the Saratoga Springs Invitational on Saturday morning in Saratoga, New York. Owls first-year Will Buckley (Plymouth, Mass.) crossed the finish line first for the Owls, placing 34th out of 96 players with a time of 27:25. Michael Maher finished 49th overall coming in with a 28:04 time. 

Matt Lecky (Middletown, Conn.) from RPI won the meet with a time of 25:32, winning the race by a fairly wide margin of twenty-one seconds.

Vassar College won the meet as a team with five top-ten finishers led by Miles Takiguchi (Portland, Ore.) who placed second.

Westfield State will compete next on October 9th as the Owls will host the James Early Invitational at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass.
