Merck Leads Owl Men to 18th at NCAA Regional Meet

Westfield State freshman Jack Merck crossed the line 63rd to lead the efforts of the Westfield State men's cross country team at the 2019 NCAA Division III New England Regional qualifying meet at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine on Saturday.

Merck tripped the 8,000 meter course on the Bowdoin campus in 26:16.

Conner Grady was 122nd in 27:02 and Zac Bentley 124th in 27:03 for the Owls.

Westfield placed 18th in the 54-team meet with 618 points. 

Williams won the team title with 24 points, followed by Colby (93) and MIT (107).  Williams' Aidan Ryan won the individual race in 24:51 as the Ephs placed all seven runners in the top 13 in the race.
