WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Westfield State men placed 14th out of 41 teams at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday in North Dartmouth, Mass.
Senior Tim Forrest (Westborough/Grafton, Mass.) crossed the line in 37th place to lead the Owls efforts, with a time of 26:15.92 over the 8k men's course.
Kevin Rayner (Pittsfield, Mass.) was the next Owl in with a time of 27:06.44 in 70th position. 295 runners competed in the varsity race, which was won by Sam Brunette of Plymouth State in 24:32.02.
NCAA Division II member Southern New Hampshire won the team title with 74, points, followed by WPI with 84. The Owls finished with 429 points.
The Owls JV team posted a sixth place finish among 18 teams. , freshman Collin Rice (Mansfield, Mass.) led the way in 38th in 28:42.38
Westfield will next compete at the Purple Valley Classic on the Mount Greylock course next Saturday.
