WESTFIELD, Mass.  –   Westfield State's Shane Clark and Brogan Madden won their events as the Owls men's outdoor track and field team started the season at a rainy Elmer J. Swanson Invitation at Wesleyan College in Middletown, Conn. on Saturday.

Clark tossed the javelin 46.20 meters to best 17 competitors.

Madden cleared 1.85 meters in the high jump.

Will Buckley finished second in the 10,000 meters in 35:04.69, with Jarrod Ledvina close on his heels in third to highlight some of the other performances by the Owl men.

Colby Ranck placed fourth in the long jump at 6.28 meters, and fifth in the triple jump at 12.54 meters.

The 4x100 relay of Jordan Stallworth, Will Brewster, Max Margeson and Ali Warsame placed fourth with a time of 44.73 seconds.

12 teams competed at the meet.   Westfield will be back in action next Saturday at the Corsair Classic at UMass-Dartmouth.
