Clark Sixth in Javelin at NE D3 Championship Meet

WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Senior Shane Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) placed sixth in the javelin to get the Westfield State men on the scoreboard at the New England Division 3 track and field championships at Springfield College on Friday afternoon.

Clark's toss of 55.71 meters was good for sixth place and three points in the team scoring, where the Owls sit in 22nd place after day 1.

In other action for Westfield, Colby Ranck (Chicopee, Mass./Hampden Charter) placed 10th with a season-best long jump of 6.74 meters, and Will Buckley (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) closed out the day's events with a 17th place finish in the 10,000 meters in  time of 34:12.72.

Several athletes were in action on the women's side of the meet as well, headlined by Vicky Marin (Greenfield, Mass.) placing ninth in long jump with a best mark of  5.39 meters, and 19th in the 100 hurdles in a time of 16.17 seconds.

Paige Moroney (Sterling, Mass./Wachussett) placed 20th in 12.71 seconds in the 100 meters, and in the 10,000 meters, Rebecca Patel (Belchertown, Mass.) placed 15th in 40:17.87 with Grace Poplawski (Rowe, Mass.) 18th with a time of 41:23.74.

The meet continues on Saturday with 15 Owls student athletes slated to compete.
