Men’s Track and Field Place Fourth at Trinity Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior Shane Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) topped the list at the javelin for the second straight week as the Owls men's track and field team placed fourth overall at the Trinity College Invitational from Hartford, Conn. on Saturday.

Westfield dominated the javelin event with the top three spots going to Owls' throwers Clark, Johnny Ware (Wilmington, Mass.) and Brendan DeBarber (Enfield, Conn.). Clark had the longest throw at 56.14 meters followed by Ware (50.75m) and DeBarber (49.52).

In other field events, Colby Ranck (Chicopee, Mass.) logged a pair of third place leaps at the long jump (6.24m) and triple jump (12.61m).

Brogan Madden (Northborough, Mass.) earned a fourth-place mark at the high jump, clearing the bar at a height of 1.81m.

Dylan Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) secured top ten tosses in throwing events with a seventh-place mark in the discus (34.87m) and eighth in the shot put (11.63m).

On the track, Fox Guajardo (Attleboro, Mass.) placed third in the 3000-meter steeplechase, crossing the tape in 11:22.20. John Nekitopoulos (West Springfield, Mass.) finished seventh in the 1500m with a time of 4:04.49.

Springfield College won the meet overall with a total of 166 points followed by Trinity College (135 points) and Coast Guard (82).

Westfield State will now prepare for the MASCAC Championships in their next meet on Saturday, April 29 from Fitchburg, Mass.
