Clark Tops Javelin as Owls Compete at Coast Guard Invite

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior Shane Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) placed first in the javelin throw as the Owls competed at the Coast Guard Invite from New London, Conn. on Saturday afternoon.

Clark was the top thrower in the event at a distance of 56.45m to pace the field.

John Nekitopoulos (West Springfield, Mass.) was a second-place finisher in the 5000m in his first time participating on the 5k oval with a time of 15:50.64. Mike Maher (Attleboro, Mass.) placed two spots behind Nekitopoulos with a fourth-place tally at a time of 16:17.08.

Colby Ranck (Chicopee, Mass.) earned fifth in the long jump (6.31m) and sixth in the triple jump (12.22m). Another notable result in the field events for the Owls was first-year Brogan Madden (Northborough, Mass.) who placed sixth in the high jump at a mark of 1.75m.  

Justin Kennedy (Holyoke, Mass.) secured a personal-best time in the 400m by posting a time of 51.98 seconds to finish top five in the event. Colin Mahoney (Plainville, Mass.) also registered a PR with a time of 53.79 seconds.
