Men’s Track and Field Compete at Wheaton Invite

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Westfield State men's track and field team participated in the Wheaton Invite from Wheaton College, Mass. on Saturday afternoon.

The Owls has numerous second-place finishes throughout the day. Brogan Madden (Northborough, Mass.) was second in the high jump at a leap of 1.80m. Shane Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) followed in the shot put by tossing the shot 13.15m. Brenden LaForest (Westfield, Mass.) finished runner-up in the 200, earning a time of 23.27 seconds in a field of 34 runners. John Nekitopoulos (West Springfield, Mass.) tallied the Owls' fourth second-place finish, this time in the 1000m with a time of 2:38.99.

Dylan Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) secured a pair of third-place marks in the weight throw (13.75m) and the shot put (13.04m).

Gordon Johnson (Hanson, Mass.) and Mike Maher (Attleboro, Mass.) finished third and fourth behind Nekitopoulos in the 1000 with Johnson posting a time of 2:42.32 and Maher crossing the line at 2:44.15.

Colin Mahoney (Plainville, Mass.) and Rowan Gottshall (West Simsbury, Mass.) both recorded top-five placements in the 800 with Mahoney finishing fourth (2:03.62) and Gottshall fifth (2:04.13). Cameron Ranck (Chicopee, Mass.) also added a fifth-place mark in the triple jump (11.62).

Westfield State will return to competition this upcoming Friday as the Owls will prepare for the New England Division III meet from Boston, Mass.
