WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Westfield State senior Shane Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) added All-New England honors to his resume as he placed third in the men's javelin throw at the New England Division III Championships at New England College on Saturday.

Clark hurled the javelin 56.85 meters, a season best, which will move him up to 25th on the national performance list.

Westfield's Brendan DeBarber (Enfield, Conn.) also competed in the javelin, placing 12th with a best throw of 49.80 meters.

Owls' first-year Vicky Marin (Greenfield, Mass.) competed in multiple events today, and finished with several near misses for all-region honors.   She placed ninth in the high jump at 1.56 meters, 20th in the long jump with 5.14 meters and 11th in the triple jump with a mark of 10.99 meters, but was just 7 centimeters away from the top 8.  Marin advanced to the 100 hurdle final, but did not finish the race.

The top eight finishers in each event earn all-New England honors.

The Westfield women placed 23rd as team, while the men end in 25th place.

Westfield is scheduled to have qualified athletes compete at next weekend's New England All-Divisions championship.
