Clark, Ranck Top Performers as Owls Finish Sixth at Trinity Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Senior Shane Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) won the javelin throw and sophomore Colby Ranck (Chicopee, Mass.) earned two top three finishes as Westfield State earned a sixth place finish at the Trinity College Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Clark won the javelin at a distance of 53.32 meters, while Ranck finished second in the long jump (6.56m) and third in the triple jump (12.72m).

Senior Michael Maher (Attleboro, Mass.) set a personal best time in the 1,500 meter at a time of 4:10.72 to place 16th in the event out of 52 runners.

Sebastian Metcalfe was an eighth place finisher at the 200 meter with a time of 23.07, and John Nekitopoulos (West Springfield, Mass.) placed tenth in the 800 meter, crossing the finish line at a time of 2:00.35.

A slew of Owls recorded personal best times and records, starting with Brendan DeBarber (Enfield, Conn.) who set personal records in both the 400m (54.62) and javelin (47.54m). Kyle O'Brien (Whitman, Mass.) set personal bests in the 400m (54.19) and the 400 meter hurdles (63.94). Brandon Hager (Agawam, Mass.), Will Buckley (Plymouth, Mass.), Matthew Hall, and Alec Krohto (Merrimac, Mass.) all set personal records in the 1,500 meter. Enrique Delgado (Worcester, Mass.) continued to perform well at the 3,000-meter steeplechase, improving his PR time to 11:14.90.

Next up for Westfield State is the MASCAC Championship meet, which will be held in Bridgewater, Mass. on Saturday, March 30.
