Brendan Laforest  (Westfield, Mass.) won the 400 meter dash as the feature of the Westfield State men's track and field team's performance at the season opening Springfield College Invitational meet on Saturday.

Laforest ran a time of 52.22.

Owls sophomore Colby Ranck (West Springfield, Mass.) took home second place honors in the men's long jump, with a leap of 6.28 meters, and was fourth in the triple jump at 12.17 meter

The Owls return to the track next Saturday at the Pioneer Winter Invitational meet at Utica (N.Y.) College.
