The Westfield State men's 4x100 relay of Lucas Roberts, Mitch Maslowski, Colby Ranck and Owen Ortiz won in a time of 43.98 to highlight the Owls' performances at the BSU Bears Invitational Meet on Saturday.

Westfield was competing outdoors for the first time in nearly two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic that suspended collegiate sports in March of 2020, just days before the NCAA Indoor championships.  The Owls did not compete indoors this winter.

"I think they were in a good mood, finally getting to compete instead of listening to me in practice<" said Owls head coach Sean O'Brien. "They were glad to get out there, nice to see some other faces in competition, and saw some the best in the country.   There were good performances all around that meet."

Westfield's Mike Maher placed second in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:03.00, and Ranck finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 6.27 meters, followed by Travis Dozier in fourth at 6.24.

Ranck also placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 12.52 meters.

No team scores were kept at the meet.  The Owls will be idle next week before competing in the Jim Sheehan Invitational at Fitchburg State on Saturday, April 10.
