Strong Start to Season at Springfield Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Westfield State student-athletes won five events as the Owls competed at the season opening Springfield College Invitational on Saturday.

Sophomore Zac Bentley (Taunton HS/Acusnhnet, Mass.) won the 1000 meters in a time of 2:43.19 and ran a leg of the Owls winning 4x800 relay unit.

Sophomore Mitch Maslowski (Berlin, Conn.) topped the field in the 400 meters with a time of 52.99.

In the 3,000, Owls swepth the top two spots, as Brandon Leclair (Wamogo/Goshen, Conn.) was the winner in 8:58.52, and senior Tim Forrest (Westborough/Grafton, Mass.)  following in 9:07.58.

Riley Moore (Wachussett/Holden, Mass.) topped the pole vault with a height of 3.60 meters.

Westfield will be back in action next Saturday at Rhode Island College before taking a break for finals and the holidays.
