Men's Track Finishes 2nd at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Westfield State University's junior Esteafan Jack (Boston, Mass. / Lincoln-Sudbury) won the 400-meter run to help lead the men's outdoor track and field team to a second place finish at the Springfield College Invitational on Saturday.

Jack won the 400-meter run in a time of 50.76 seconds.

Freshman Zac Bentley (Acushnet, Mass. / Taunton ) finished second in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:59.81, junior Tim Forrest (Grafton, Mass. / Westborough) placed second in the 1500-meter run (4:16.90), senior Brent Kane (Wilbraham, Mass. / Minnechaug ) finished second in the 400-meter hurdles (58.64).

Other strong competitors for the Owls includes sophomore William Canty (South Grafton, Mass. / Grafton) who placed second in the pole vault (3.95m; 12-11.5), junior Paul James (West Brookfield, Mass. / Tantasqua ) who finished third in the 200 meter dash (22.55), senior Dereck Stone (Bellingham, Mass.) jumped to a fourth place finish in the long jump (6.50m), and senior David Drigo (Middleton, Mass. / Masconomet) who finished third in the hammer throw (44.30m).

The Owls 4x100- meter relay team finished second (43.12) while the 4x400 meter relay team placed third (3:39.07).

The Owls' finished second of nine competing teams with a total of 155 points. Springfield College won the invitational on the men's side with a team total of 192.75 points.

Westfield State will travel to Eastern Connecticut State University on April 28th for the MASCAC Alliance/Championships.
