WESTFIELD, Mass. - Westfield State University's senior David Drigo (Middleton, Mass. / Masconomet) posted a strong finish in the javelin to lead the men's outdoor track and field team at the MIT Final Qualifier Meet at the Sherie and Don Morrison Track in Cambridge on Thursday.

Athletes from all along the East Coast looked to move up in the rankings heading into next week's NCAA Championship.

Drigo finished eighth in the javelin with a throw of 53.69 meters (176' 2'').

The Owls close out the 2018 season at the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship, which is being held from May 24-26 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in La Crosse, Wisc.

Qualifiers for the championship include Drigo and sophomore William Canty (South Grafton, Mass. / Grafton).
