Drigo, Canty Earn All-Region Honors

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Westfield State University's senior David Drigo (Middleton, Mass. / Masconomet) and sophomore William Canty (South Grafton, Mass. / Grafton) were recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as being All-Region honorees for the 2018 NCAA Division III indoor track & field season.

Drigo placed fifth in the javelin and earned All-New England Division III All-Region Honors after placing within the top eight.

Canty was named the New England Division III Champion after winning six of 10 events in the men's track and field decathlon at the New England Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 3-5.

The top five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top three relay teams.

The regions used for this award include the Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast, and West.

On the men's side, a total of 743 athletes from 192 programs earned 948 All-Region honors.

Drigo and Canty will be competing at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships set to take place this weekend in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
