WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State junior Edwin Zaruma Buri (Northampton, Mass.) scored the opening goal of the game, but the Raiders rallied in the second half with three straight goals to defeat the Owls 3-1 on a Wednesday night from Nashua, New Hampshire.
In the first half Zaruma Buri put the Owls on the board with a rebounded header at the 10th minute to give Westfield a quick 1-0 lead.
The Owls maintained a 1-0 lead into the second half until Rivier broke through 1:59 into the period with Jason Harlow (Naples, Maine) netting his first of two goals to tie the match.
20 minutes later, Raiders Hayden Bilodeau (Windham, ME) had the ball and found Harlow who delivered with his second goal of the night.
The Raiders kept the pressure on with Ryan Hadouche (Nashua, NH) dribbling past three defenders to tap the ball into the back of the net in the 86th minute.
Collin O'Brien (Windsor Locks, Conn.) and Drew Adams (North Attleboro, Mass.) split time in the net with O'Brien stopping three shots and Adams saving his lone shot faced.
The Owls held the advantage in shots (17-11) with the Raiders holding the slight upper hand in shots on net (7-6).
Westfield State will host MCLA in their next game in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference game on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. from Alumni Field on Family and Champions Weekend.
