Owls Men's Soccer Picked Fourth in MASCAC Poll

WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Westfield State University's men's soccer team is forecast to place fourth in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, based on the preseason coaches' poll released today.

The Owls finished with 30 points, tied with Worcester State for the fourth spot.  Defending champion Salem was picked to win, followed by Bridgewater and Framingham.

Westfield State made a run to the title game last year out of the sixth seed after posting a 9-9-1 overall mark and a 3-4 record in conference play..  The Owls played Salem to a 2-2 draw, with the Vikings claiming the title in a penalty kick shootout.

The Owls will open the 2018-19 season with a match at The University of Southern Maine in Gorham, Maine on Friday, August 31 as part of a four-team tournament.  The match will be the first-ever under the lights at Southern Maine's Hannaford Field.
