WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Owls' hockey team secured the honors for two Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly awards as Daniel Finegan (Chicago, Ill.) and Christopher Miraldo (Montreal, Quebec) were named MASCAC Player and Rookie of the Week.

Finegan nabs his first MASCAC honors of the season after his offensive outburst helped the Owls to a perfect 2-0 record on the week. The sophomore defenseman started his impressive week against Assumption as he scored the game-tying goal early in the third which sparked a six-goal period for the Owls. He then registered a goal and an assist in the 3-1 win over Worcester State.

Finegan has two goals and six assists on the season for a total of eight points, which is currently tied for third-most on the team.

Miraldo was named the MASCAC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after scoring in both of the Owls' victories. The first-year forward currently has nine goals and an assist for a total of 10 points, which is tied for the team lead. His nine goals are good enough for the second-most in the conference.

Westfield (7-3-1, 4-2-1 MASCAC) opens up the new calendar year at Salem State on Thursday, January 4 for a 7:00 P.M. start time for their next game.
