Hockey Falls To UMass-Dartmouth

Westfield State senior Jason Diamond scored the lone goal of the game for the Owls, but it was too little, too late for Westfield, which fell to UMass Dartmouth by a 5-1 final score at Hetland Arena in New Bedford on Saturday afternoon.

Westfield finishes its regular season with a 12-11-2 record, and a 7-9-2 mark in the MASCAC.  The Owls will await their seed and opponent in the conference tournament once league play finishes this week.

The Corsairs got all the offense they needed with a parir of goals in the first 10 minutes of the game.   Melker Kroon added a pair of goals in the second periond, before Diamond talliied off an assist from Chuck Costello.

Valtteri Valtonen made 28 saves for Westfield, while Chris Stangarone and Parker Butler split the game in goal for UMD, combining for 35 saves.

The Corsairs are now 9-13-2, 6-10-2 in the MASCAC.
