Owls Mock Framingham, 6-4

WESTFIELD, Mass. –     Westfield State's Tristan Mock scored back to back goals in the first period to help power Westfield State to a 6-4 win in MASCAC men's ice hockey at Amelia Park on Saturday evening.

The Owls improve to 3-3-1 overall on the season and 2-1-1- in the MASCAC with the win, while Framingham is now 1-6 and 0-4 in the conference.

Westfield skated to a 3-0 first period lead on a goal from Cory Morris, then Mock netted his two goals just 12 seconds apart in the final minute of the period.

Framingham bounced back with three tallies of their own in the second period, the first from Jacob Garman on the power play, then Dylan Marty and Matthew Irwin added goals to tie the game at 3-3.

Westfield grabbed a 4-3 lead heading into the third period, as Wyatt Lawrence blocked a shot at the left point, with the puck bouncing right to an opportunistic Peter Izzo who skated end to end for the goal and the lead at 15:09 of the second period.

The Owls tacked on two more goals early in the third period, with Jason Diamond finding the net off a nice passing sequence from Chuck Costello and Triston Theriot at 1:26 of the third, then Theriot factored in the sixth goal as his shot from the point was re-directed in front of the net by Paul Frys for his third goal of the season.

Framingham added one more with Johnny Baker tallying off assists from Marty and Ashton Collazzo for the final margin.

Blake Carlson made 38 saves for Framingham, while Westfield's Kevin Chandler made 30 saves to pick up his first win of the season.

Westfield will travel to Johnson and Wales on Tuesday, Nov. 2 for a 7:00 p.m. game before pausing for the Thanksgiving break.
