WESTFIELD, Mass. - Milan Breczko redirected a shot from Ashton Jones 3:34 into overtime to lift Rivier University to a 5-4, come-from-behind win over Westfield State in a non-conference men's ice hockey game at Amelia Park Arena on Thursday night.

Jones skated the puck into the Owls zone on the right side on a 2-v-1 and fired to the front of the net where Breczko tipped it past Westfield netminder Tyler Shugue for the game winner.

Westfield built a 3-0 lead early in the game on first period goals from Mattheiu Jones and Triston Theriot, and a second period tally from Andrew McCormick.

Rivier rallied with back to back goals from Francis Young-Menard and Jones, before Westfield State's Jojo Carbone tipped one in at 14:10 of the second period to give the Owls a 4-2 lead.

The Raiders trimmed the lead to 4-3 with a tally from Nick Paolucci late in the second period.

Rivier tied the game 4-4 with Nick Winslow tallying on the power play with 6:37 left in regulation.

Westfield skated off a pair of penalties in the final two minutes of regulation time and the start of the OT, but Brezcko sent Rivier home happy in the 3-on-3 overtime session.

Westfield State got 25 saves, including six in the overtime from Tyler Shugrue, while the Raiders' Luke Newell finished with 43 saves.

Westfield State slips to 1-2 on the season, while Rivier is now 2-1 in their debut campaign.

Westfield State will be back in action on Thursday, Nov. 11 with a 7:00 MASCAC game at Plymouth State.
