Green, Collins, Earn All-MASCAC Honors

WESTFIELD, Mass.  –  Westfield State University's Jauch Green, Jr. and Marcus Collins have been named to the 2018-19 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball all-conference teams.

Green was named to the first team, while Collins picked up second team honors.

Green (Cromwell HS/Hartford, Conn.) led the Owls in scoring a rebounding with 22.6 points and 9.9 per rebounds per game and added a team-best 2.5 steals per game.   He scored his 1000th career collegiate point earlier this season (after transferring from Western Connecticut State).  A junior academically, his 611 points this season are the third-best single season total in Owls history. He set a school record with 169 free throws made, and his 259 trips to the foul line are the second most in program history.  Collins was third in the MASCAC in both scoring and rebounding, and second in steals.

Collins (Rindge and Latin/Cambridge, Mass.) was named to all-conference squad for a second straight year, after being a first-team all-league pick a year ago.  Collins finished the year with 13.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting a team high 55.2 percent from the floor.  Collins has 898 points and 594 rebounds in his 3-year basketball career.  Collins is a senior academically, but plans to return as a graduate student next year while playing out his final year of basketball eligibility.  Collins ranked second in the MASCAC in field goal percentage.

Westfield State finished with a 16-11 overall record under 21st year head coach Rich Sutter.   The Owls finished in second place in the MASCAC with an 8-4 record, and advanced to the finals of the conference tournament before falling to top seed Salem State in a tight game.
