Men's Basketball Falls to Bridgewater

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Sophomore forward Rayshon Ward (Plymouth North/Plymouth, Mass.) scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Bridgewater State rolled to an 84-44 win over Westfield State in a MASCAC men's basketball game at the Woodward Center on Saturday afternoon.

Bridgewater limited Westfield to just 23 percent shooting (15-65) for the game. The Owls opened the game just 3-24 from the floor, and trailed 41-23 at the half.

Senior guard Rocky D'Andrade (Mansfield, Mass.) added 19 points for the Bears, with Joseph Carty (St. Andrew's School/Natick, Mass.) tacking on 10 points and eight rebounds.

Westfield was led by 12 points from junior guard Peter Mafo (Lynn Classical/Lynn, Mass.) and 10 from sophomore guard Moody Bey (Monson /Springfield, Mass.).

The Owls connected on just 1 of 15 three point attempts, and Bridgewater State blocked 10 Westfield shots.

Bridgewater improves to 9-6 overall and 2-0 in the MASCAC, while Westfield drops to 7-8, 1-1 in the MASCAC.

Westfield State will be back in action on Wednesday, hosting Framingham State in a MASCAC game at 7:30 p.m. at the Woodward Center.
