WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University field hockey juniors Emily Martin (Southwick, Mass.) and Morgan Wichmann (Granby, Conn.) took home Little East Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors for their performances against Elms and Western Connecticut State.

Martin earned the Offensive Player of the Week, scoring five goals on an efficient eight shots on net to contribute to a 10-2 blowout win over Elms College, and a 2-0 win against Western Connecticut State.

Through her first four games, Martin currently leads all scorers in the Little East with seven goals, while her 16 total points on the season also tops the conference.

Wichmann received the Defensive Player of the Week, anchoring an Owls back line that held Western Connecticut without a shot on net in their conference-opening victory. The junior defender also contributed to holding Elms to just three shots on net in Tuesday's win.

Wichmann has led Westfield's defense to a goals-against average of 1.25 per game, the fourth lowest opponent average in the Little East.

Westfield State field hockey (3-1) will look to keep the sticks hot on Wednesday when they travel to Bristol, Rhode Island to face off against the Roger Williams Hawks (3-0) at 7:00 PM.
