Westfield, Mass. – Westfield State first-year Kelsi McDevitt (Gilbertsville, Pa.) tallied the lone goal of the game as the Owls defeated UMass Dartmouth, 1-0, on the road at Cressy Field Tuesday night. The victory for the Owls (6-7, 5-2 LEC) marked their third consecutive Little East Conference win.

Locked in a zero-zero duel towards the end of the 3rd, the Owls got on the board with a minute remaining in the period, as senior forward Cheryl Latona (Granby, Conn.) found McDevitt who scored her fourth goal of the season, which proved to be the game winner.

UMass Dartmouth made a strong push in the final period, as the Corsairs piled up six of their ten total shots in the fourth alone. The Owls defense and goalkeeper Riley Goulet (Marion, Mass.) were up to the challenge, thwarting every scoring chance to secure the shutout victory. Goulet recorded two saves. Corsairs' keeper Alyssa McDonough (Hill, N.H.) stopped seven shots.

The Owls held a slight edge in shots (13-10) and shots on net (7-5), while the Corsairs held the advantage in penalty corners (5-2).

Westfield State will carry a three-game winning streak into their next match-up as the Owls travel to Eastern Connecticut State in a battle of top five LEC teams on Saturday at 4:00 P.M. UMass Dartmouth (4-9, 3-4 LEC) will host Southern Maine on Saturday at 4:00 P.M.
