Barros, Irish Earn NFHCA Scholar of Distinction Honors

WESTFIELD, MA – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Scholars of Distinction program recognized two Westfield State student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year.

A freshman psychology major, Jenna Barros (Rehoboth, Mass.), provided the Owls with support on defense, appearing in three games this season.

Freshman midfielder Kayleigh Irish (Charlton, Mass./Shepherd Hill) played in seven games, adding to the Owls effort this season. Off the field, Irish currently majors in biology.

The Owls finished the 2019 regular season with a 5-15 record overall. Westfield is set to open the 2020 fall season against Rivier University (Nashua, NH) on September 1.
