BOSTON, Mass. - Freshman forward Allie Giguere (Bishop Fenwick/Lynn, Mass.) scored the lone goal of the night for the Owls, as Westfield State fell to Simmons University by a 3-1 score on Tuesday night.

The Sharks jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Emily Plummer and Lily D'Anna in the first 26 minutes of the match.

The Owls tied the game just before the half, with Giguere converting off of a cross from classmate Cheryl Latona (Granby, Conn.).

The Sharks tacked on an insurance goal in the 44th minute with Plummer adding her second goal of the night.  Simmons held a 10-7 advantage in shots for the game and had a 10-4 advantage in penalty corners.

Westfield split the game in goal, with starter Katie Vamosi (Oliver Ames/Easton, Mass) (4 saves) taking the loss.  Riley Goulet (Old Rochester/Marion, Mass.)  came on in the second half to make one save.  Simmons goalkeeper Lucy McNamara finished with four saves.

Simmons is now 1-3 on the season, while Westfield State falls to a 1-2 with the loss. The Owls will be back in action on Saturday, with their first Little East Conference game of the year at Framingham State at 2:00 p.m.
