Before Westfield: Hinsch’s previous coaching experience includes an eight-year stint as an assistant football coach at the Coast Guard Academy.

Hinsch graduated with a physical education degree from Plymouth State, where he played for former Westfield State offensive line coach Tom Bell. Hinsch earned a master’s degree in education from Southern Connecticut State University.

Hinsch is also highly active in girls’ lacrosse, serving as a New England Brine All-American coach and previously serving as the head coach at Mitchell College in New London, Conn. He is also the founder and co-director of the Connecticut Lazers Lacrosse Club team.  In the summer of 2018 Hinsch served as the Head Coach  for the Team USA, at the Prague Cup International Lacrosse Tournament in Prague, Czech Republic. The Team, made up of top D1 players representing the USA completed the tournament with a 5-1 record and a silver medal, losing only to the Czech Republic National Team.  In August, Hinsch's same Team USA  also competed in the summer's largest tournament in Lake Placid, Ny.

Recently Hinsch has managed tournaments and clinics for Trilogy Lacrosse.

Hinsch has vast experience in administration. He was the athletics director of the Department of Defense Naval Submarine Base, in Groton, Conn., from 1984-1990, administrating an award-winning athletics program for 13,000 active duty personnel. He was director of marketing and corporate sponsorship at the naval base from 1990-94. From 1994-2006 he was the assistant general manager, marketing and sales, for the Norwich (Conn.) Navigators minor league baseball team.
