Tyler Cooley Named to D3Football.com All-Region Team

WESTFIELD, Mass.  -  Westfield State football junior linebacker Tyler Cooley (Randolph, Mass. / Archbishop Williams) has been named the the D3football.com all-region team.

Cooley was a third-team selection on the Region 1 team.

Cooley led the Owls, and the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference in tackling with 117 stops this season, an average of 11.7 tackles per game.  He added nine tackles-for-loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, recovered two fumbles, and broke up a pair of passes on the season.

He was previously chosen as a first-team all-conference linebacker, his second straight selection to the All-MASCAC team.

Cooley has been a standout for the Owls after transferring from the University of New England after his freshman year.  He has made 235 total tackles in two seasons at Westfield State.

This year, he made a season-high 18 tackles in a loss to Western New England, and had five games in which he had 13 or more tackles.

Westfield finished the 2023 campaign with a 3-7 record, 3-5 in the MASCAC under ninth-year head coach Pete Kowalski.  The Owls closed the season with two straight wins, including a 49-0 shutout of Fitchburg State in the final game of the season.
